Our Contribuition

HIMA is an ethical project.

It means a lot to us that we do not source our products from factories that do not offer proper working conditions for its workers, as it’s typical when big brands make their products in less developed countries. Our clothes are not mass produced, but instead handmade on a small workshop.

We believe businesses should have a positive impact in the world.

That’s why we will be donating part of our profits to the Pragati Kiran School in Nepal. The school was established in 2003. Close to 350 students study there, of which 50 are studying under full as well as partial scholarship. It is located in Katuje Besni of Kavrepalanchok district, in the eastern part of Nepal, about 70 km away from the capital, Kathmandu.

Students learn math, science, environment, health and population, computer skills and nepali subjects. Being in the private education sector, the school also focuses on organizing different extra-curricular activities so that the students can gain knowledge in every field. Every Friday, they organize activities like chess competitions, dance, volleyball, football and others. The students are also incentivized and taught how to contribute to their communities. For example, there have been tree plantation programs and environmental cleaning programs.

The school is inserted in a rural area and everyone in the village works in agriculture. Their low economical background means it would be very hard for the children to have access to quality education. It is very difficult to earn money from agriculture because of the lack of proper guidelines and quality seeds.

In Nepal, there is no safety net and the education provided by the state is not enough to uplift productivity and living conditions for the future generations. Without education, it’s impossible to break the cycle of poverty. That's why the school is so important. It gives the children hope to break away from the fields and get better living conditions in the future. They don’t have to follow the same agricultural life of their parents. They have hope for a better future and better standards of living. After all, with a little help, it might not be so hard for a bright little Nepalese from a poor village to become a force of positive change in their community or even in the country.

It means a lot to us that we will be supporting this school. We hope it means to you too
